MANUFACTURING AND PURCHASING IN INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES

Industrial product, consumption product, etc. products are delivered to the customer as a result of different production types according to their industries. Production types affect the indirect and direct purchasing process. Purchasing and production varies within a certain supply and demand cycle with parameters such as time and quantity. In this process, 5 production types stand out:

-Repetitive manufacturing,
-Discrete manufacturing,
-Job shop manufacturing,
-Continuous process manufacturing,
-Batch process manufacturing.

Repetitive manufacturing:
The concept of production line that everyone dreams of when it comes to production is repetitive production. Production is regular. The same product is produced 24/7 throughout the year. The material procurement process is mainly done by direct purchasing.

Discrete manufacturing:
It is a model that can be produced for different products. Production is irregular. Different types of production are made. Since the products are different, general machines are used rather than special machines such as in repetitive production. In the material procurement process, direct and indirect purchasing can be preferred.

Job shop manufacturing:
Smaller quantities of parts are produced on demand rather than on the production line. The product variety is wide. Cost and quality are high. Can be arranged as stations. Indirect purchase is mostly preferred.

Continuous process manufacturing:
Continuous process production is similar to repetitive production. In continuous process production, raw materials such as gas, liquid, powder etc. are materials. Production continues 24/7. The material procurement process is mainly done by direct purchasing.

Batch process manufacturing:
Batch process production is similar to batch production and workshop production. Production is made according to demand. In the material procurement process, direct and indirect purchasing can be preferred.

In addition to production types, 3D printer production method has come to the fore in recent years. It continues to advance with technological developments as an alternative to workshop type production and automation production types.

It is necessary to determine purchasing strategies by analyzing the production type in the production facilities. It is important to follow key performance analyzes for this, category management related to the products requested in the production line, purchasing and production cooperation in order to reduce the cost and not to disrupt the production in the direct and indirect purchasing process.
